Dr. William H. Brown

Dr. Brown is a native of Snow Hill, graduating from Greene Central High School in 1975.  He received a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1979.  From 1979 to 1982, Dr. Brown was a research assistant in the Department of Pathology at the UNC School of Medicine.  He received his dental degree from the UNC School of Dentistry in 1986 and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society.  Dr. Brown completed his Master in Orthodontics degree at the UNC School of Dentistry in 1989. 

Dr. Brown has enjoyed being an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Orthodontics at UNC for over 30 years, where he has the opportunity to teach orthodontic residents and treat patients in the UNC Graduate Orthodontic Clinic one day every other week.  This opportunity allows Dr. Brown to stay abreast of the latest and most modern techniques in orthodontics and positively impact the next generation of orthodontists.  In his spare time, Dr. Brown enjoys his favorite hobby, photography, and spending time in the outdoors with his family.  He and his wife, Kim, have three children.

Dr. Matthew W. Brown

Dr. Matthew Brown is a native of Kinston, graduating as salutatorian from Kinston High School in 2004.  He received a Bachelor of Science with distinction in Biology and a minor in Chemistry from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2008.  He completed all of his graduate education at the UNC School of Dentistry, receiving his dental degree with distinction in 2012.  Dr. Matt graduated in the top 5% of his dental school class and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society.  He completed his Master in Orthodontics degree in 2015.

During his 3 year residency in orthodontics, Dr. Matt was exposed to the most advanced orthodontic treatment techniques, including mini implants, Invisalign, soft tissue lasers, and orthognathic surgery. His Master's thesis project, titled "Effectiveness and efficiency of a CAD/CAM orthodontic bracket system", was published in the December 2015 edition of the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.  He received the 2015 Research Award from the UNC Orthodontic Alumni Association for outstanding contributions to research in the field.  Dr. Matt achieved his board certification with the American Board of Orthodontics in 2016, a distinction held by less than a third of practicing orthodontists.

Outside of the office, Dr. Matt enjoys spending time at the beach, fishing, surfing, playing sports and working on cars.  He and his wife, Mackenzie, have a 5 year old daughter (Lila) and 1 year old son (Liam) that make sure there is never a dull moment around the house and a sweet Goldendoodle named Cruiser!
